In Memory of Kimberly Charles Evers: A Tribute to Service and Legacy
Kimberly Charles Evers, a man of honor and dedication, devoted six years of his life to the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of E5. His most significant service was at Enewetak Atoll, a remote location where the demands were as intense as the environment was unforgiving. As a nuclear veteran, Kim played a pivotal role in the operations on the Atoll, handling everything from heavy machinery to intricate tasks that required precision and care.
His work on Enewetak Atoll was marked by a resilience that only the toughest could muster, managing critical duties within the 62B10 and 84th HQ from October 1, 1979, to March 1, 1980. Kim's contribution to this mission was not just a duty but a testament to his strength, skill, and unwavering commitment to his country.
Kim's service at Enewetak Atoll was a defining chapter in his life, one that exemplified his character and dedication to the greater good. The challenges he faced and overcame in this remote and hazardous environment speak volumes about the man he was—determined, reliable, and courageous. His efforts in one of the most demanding assignments of the Cold War era earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and his legacy as an Enewetak veteran will forever be remembered.
After his honorable service, Kim brought the same level of dedication and leadership to his community in Eastlake, Ohio. For over 40 years, he was a cornerstone of the community, serving as a Councilman for eight years and leading the Eastlake Police Activities League (EPAL). His leadership extended to coaching youth sports and mentoring Boy Scouts, where he instilled values of integrity, perseverance, and service in the next generation.
An outdoorsman at heart, Kim cherished the simple joys of life—hunting, fishing, and bowling.
These activities not only provided him with relaxation but also reflected his love for nature and family. He was a devoted husband to Mary Frances for 38 years, a loving father to Therese, Nicholas, Dani, and Matthew, and a proud grandfather to Ryan, Alexis, Adriona, and Teddy. His family was his world, and he dedicated his life to their happiness and well-being.
Kim's life was one of service—first to his country and then to his community and family. His contributions were many, and his impact was profound. Even as we mourn his passing on June 15, 2021, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby, Ohio, we celebrate the remarkable life he led.
Kimberly Charles Evers' legacy is one of bravery, service, and love. His time at Enewetak Atoll will forever stand as a symbol of his commitment to duty, while his life in Eastlake reflects his dedication to his community and family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the National Association of Atomic Veterans, a cause that was close to Kim's heart.
Rest in peace, Kimberly Charles Evers. Your service to our nation and your unwavering dedication to your community and family will never be forgotten.
