Message from Jeff Fortin, MAC Team Air Passenger Specialist

I want to take a moment today to clarify the purpose of this group. This group was not formed to advocate for compensation or recognition from the United States government. Instead, it was created to share the personal stories—stories of the veterans themselves, stories shaped by news organizations, and stories told by the families who lived through the experience. While other groups may exist for advocacy, this group is not about arguing for recognition, compensation, or healthcare parity.

The purpose of this group is to let the world know that we existed, that we served, and for many, that we died in service. There were 8,000 stories from those who served, and countless more from the families who carried the burden. It is our mission to share these stories—stories of duty, honor, and country—so the world understands the sacrifices made by those who gave their all.

This group will honor the memories of those who served by sharing the stories we've accumulated over the years. These stories remind the world that each of us has a tale to tell, and together, we ensure that these voices are heard. We served. We existed. And now, through this group, we will ensure that our stories live on in honor of those who sacrificed.

The importance of comradeship in sharing our stories cannot be overstated. For veterans, the bond formed through shared experiences creates an unbreakable connection—a sense of belonging that transcends time, place, and circumstance. When we come together to share our personal journeys, we are not just recounting events; we are reaffirming the powerful ties that unite us as comrades in arms.

Comradeship is the foundation upon which trust is built. Sharing our stories within this group allows us to support one another emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Through storytelling, we find healing in knowing we are not alone in our struggles and triumphs. These shared memories remind us of the sacrifices we’ve made, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the lives we’ve touched.

By sharing our experiences, we also honor the legacy of those who can no longer speak for themselves. Comradeship ensures that their stories live on, passed down through the collective memory of those who served alongside them. It gives voice to the silent, ensures that their sacrifices are not forgotten, and strengthens the bond that holds us together as a community.

In this group, we find strength in numbers, solidarity in our shared experiences, and a common purpose in keeping our stories alive. Comradeship reminds us that, no matter what we face, we face it together, and through that shared journey, we find hope, recognition, and meaning.
