Richard F. Preciado Sr., affectionately known as "Sgt. P," was a shining example of service, dedication, and unwavering love for his country and his family. Born into a life of commitment and integrity, Richard’s journey through life was marked by significant


milestones that showcased his strength of character. His passing on October 23, 2005, left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.


Richard proudly served his country as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army. One of the defining moments of his career was his deployment to Lojwa Island from November 29, 1978, to June 29, 1979. During this time, Richard took command of the Lojwa Motor Pool, a role that required leadership, responsibility, and an incredible work ethic—qualities that defined Richard throughout his military career. His dedication to duty and his ability to lead by example left a lasting impression on all who served alongside him.


Following his retirement from the military, Richard embarked on a new chapter of life filled with the passions and interests that enriched his spirit. One of his favorite hobbies was model railroading, where he channeled his creativity and precision into building intricate railways. This hobby was a testament to Richard's meticulous nature, reflecting his love for detail and craftsmanship.


Yet, for all of his professional accomplishments and personal interests, Richard’s greatest joy was his family. His love and devotion to his wife, the former Doris Stewart, were unwavering, and together they built a life filled with love and companionship. Richard was not only a dedicated husband but also a caring and supportive father to two sons and two daughters. His role as a father was one of guidance, strength, and unconditional love, shaping the lives of his children in profound ways.


Richard's legacy lives on through his grandchildren, who carry with them the values and lessons he imparted. His memory serves as a reminder of the importance of family, service, and dedication to those we love. Though his passing marked the end of his journey on earth, the impact he had on his family and community continues to resonate.


As we remember Richard F. Preciado Sr., we honor his life of service, devotion, and love. His final resting place may be private, but his legacy remains public—a shining example of a life well-lived. In his memory, those wishing to pay tribute to his service can make memorial gifts to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), a fitting homage to a man who served his country with pride and honor. Richard will forever be remembered as a hero, both in uniform and in the hearts of his family and friends.
