Charles Edward Vankirk, a PFC in the United States Army, served with steadfast determination as part of the 562nd Engineer Battalion during the historic Enewetak Atoll Cleanup Project. Operating on Enewetak Atoll, Charles’s role as a 12B10 Combat Engineer placed him on the front lines of clearing radioactive materials and ensuring the safety of the region.
