For our brave Atomic Veterans, Justin Loran Hardy, an Army veteran who served with distinction in the 84th Engineer Battalion from August 7, 1977, to January 20, 1978, embarked on a journey of service and sacrifice during his deployment to Lojwa Island in Enewetak Atoll. Assigned to critical plumbing and water purification tasks, Justin played a vital role in ensuring the functionality and sanitation of the base camp. His responsibilities included plumbing the mess hall, which required precision and expertise in challenging conditions.

Despite the demanding nature of his duties, Justin approached each task with dedication and a strong sense of duty. His expertise in plumbing and water purification proved invaluable to the mission, contributing to the overall success of the cleanup efforts on Lojwa Island. Justin's commitment to excellence and his unwavering determination in the face of adversity earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow servicemen.

During his deployment, Justin encountered numerous challenges, including stomach and intestinal issues and joint pain. These health issues, which he believes may be related to his service in Enewetak, have had a significant impact on his life. Justin also expresses concerns about the health of his two youngest children, who were born after his Enewetak tour. His daughter suffers from severe intestinal problems, while his youngest son has experienced vision loss in one eye.

Despite facing these personal challenges, Justin remains determined to seek justice and recognition for the health issues he and his family have endured. He acknowledges the difficulty in navigating the bureaucracy of filing claims related to atomic issues and cleanup efforts in Enewetak. However, Justin's resolve to advocate for himself and his family reflects his unwavering commitment to seeking answers and accountability.

Today, we honor Justin Loran Hardy's selfless service and sacrifices in Enewetak. His story serves as a powerful reminder of the physical and emotional toll endured by our nation's veterans in the aftermath of their service. Justin's courage, resilience, and advocacy embody the very best of the American spirit, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of servicemen and women.
