Dana Cravens, a former Sp-6 in the U.S. Army, served as a Shift Supervisor/Operator at the "Lojwa Cat House" Power Plant on Enewetak Atoll from July to October 1981. During his four-month tour, Dana operated and maintained the four Caterpillar diesel generators at the 2 MW Power Plant, ensuring a continuous power supply to the island. His role was crucial in maintaining the daily operations of the atoll, contributing to the overall mission's success through his expertise and dedication.

Off duty, Dana embraced the natural beauty and tranquility of the island, enjoying activities such as hiking, SCUBA diving, and spending time with his grandchildren. A man of varied interests, he also had a passion for community theater, photography, science, and space exploration. His life was rich with experiences that extended beyond his military service, though he held a distinct dislike for curry, idiots, and fanatics, particularly in sports, religion, and politics.

Today, Dana faces daily challenges such as neuropathy and rheumatoid arthritis, likely stemming from his eight demanding years of service in the Army. Despite these health issues, Dana remains a laidback and sassy old man, enjoying retirement and actively volunteering at his church and in community theater. His background as a retired Electrical/Instrument Supervisor in Power Production has equipped him with skills and knowledge that continue to serve him well, and he values the lessons learned during his military service as the best life education he could have received.
