Specialist Kevin Michael Henry served as a Power Generation Mechanic with the 84th Engineers at Enewetak Atoll, where his expertise was critical in maintaining the unit's operational capabilities. His responsibilities included repairing and maintaining all power generation equipment, ranging from small 3KW generators to large 100KW units, as well as heavy construction equipment like D8 dozers and 440 graders. His meticulous attention to detail and technical skills ensured that the equipment vital to the success of the mission was always in top condition.


Kevin’s technical skills were not limited to maintenance; he was also proficient in welding, playing a vital role in ensuring the durability and reliability of equipment essential for the success of the cleanup and construction projects on the atoll. His work ensured that essential power and machinery were available and functional, supporting all personnel's day-to-day operations and safety. His contributions were crucial in an environment where the reliability of machinery directly impacted the success and safety of the operations.


In addition to his technical duties, Specialist Henry's service took him across various islands of the atoll, where he applied his skills in diverse settings, further underscoring his adaptability and commitment to the mission. His willingness to take on challenges and his ability to work in different environments demonstrated his dedication to the task at hand and the success of the overall mission.


Sadly, Specialist Henry's health was later impacted by colon cancer, a reminder of the sacrifices and risks faced by those who served in such challenging and hazardous environments. His service and the health challenges he faced afterward highlight the long-term effects that military service can have on individuals.


Today, we honor Specialist Kevin Michael Henry for his indispensable contributions to the mission at Enewetak Atoll. His dedication, technical acumen, and courage under challenging conditions exemplify the best qualities of a soldier. His legacy serves as a testament to the vital role of support personnel in ensuring the success of complex military operations and the enduring impact of their service.
